EMS Rural Exports licence suspension

We have been firm in our calls for the independent regulator to enforce the regulations exporters are required to operate within, and entrust the regulator with this process.
At this point in time we are not privy to the grounds for which the licence has been suspended but note that the welfare of animals during shipping is the absolute priority.
The suspension adds to the significant uncertainty in the Western Australian sheep industry and call on all parties to work constructively and transparently to resolve the current situation.
We are satisfied that the sheep that were originally scheduled for export by Emanuel Exports are being well looked after in a Western Australian feedlot and that they are healthy and in good condition and that their welfare in their current holdings is not of concern.
