TODAY the National Farmers’ Federation (NFF) welcomes the Australian Livestock and Property Agents Association (ALPA) to the swelling ranks of its membership.
As the peak national body for livestock and property agents, ALPA represents more than 1,200 agency businesses across regional Australia. Collectively this group plays an important role in livestock, wool, merchandise and rural property sales and marketing.
ALPA members handle in excess of 97% of agency business Australia-wide.
“Having ALPA involved with the NFF as an Associate Member is precisely the broadening of the NFF membership base we envisaged when launching the new NFF membership model in July of last year,” NFF President David Crombie said.
“ALPA will now be involved in NFF policy setting debates, we welcome their involvement in those discussions. It’s vital that the NFF reflect the changing face of Australian agriculture. The sector is becoming increasingly integrated with supply chain participants, so embracing the full raft of activities and issues affecting modern farms is very much welcomed.
“The NFF is delighted that ALPA has joined with us as an Associate Member. ALPA’s members are important players in the rural business environment and we look forward to their views on key national issues.”
ALPA CEO Andy Madigan said his organisation is pleased to have a more formal engagement with the NFF.
“The ALPA Board recognises the importance of all sectors of Australian agriculture working together for the good of the whole industry,” he said. “The ALPA Directors believe that agents play a very important role in the ever changing world of agriculture and have a lot to offer to the national industry.
“ALPA is very pleased to a part of this initiative of the NFF, enabling the engagement of the whole of the agricultural supply chain to have representation and a stronger united national focus on evidence and outcome based policy development with the national peak farm body.”
