Farm Infrastructure Tax Concessions

14 May 2015

The National Farmers’ Federation (NFF) is supporting calls by the Minister for Agriculture, the Hon. Barnaby Joyce, to bring forward the commencement date for accelerated depreciation for fodder, fencing, silos and water upgrades.

The proposal to introduce this important concession for drought preparedness has been enthusiastically received by farmers across Australia.

Unfortunately, the NFF has received feedback from members that the delayed implementation date has been a source of confusion, and will leave small businesses like rural supply stores hanging on until 2016-17 to get a boost from these measures.

The NFF encourages the Treasurer to seriously consider bringing forward the start date for farm infrastructure tax concessions to the earliest possible moment.
